# How do I add a contact?

Email invite; they enter their own number and consent.

Open [Emergency contacts](https://app.wearabledocs.com/contacts).

## The sequence

1. You enter their **name**, their **relationship** to you, and their **email**, and choose how to reach them: **Text**, **Call**, or **Both**. There is no field for their phone number on your side.
2. We email them a link explaining who named them and what messages look like.
3. **They** open the link, enter their own mobile number, and tick the consent box.
4. They reply **YES** to one confirmation text from WearableDocs.

Only after that are they confirmed for alerts.

## Why you do not type their number

Only the person who owns the number can opt in. That is required for the text program and it stops wrong-number alerts.

## If the email does not arrive

Check spam. On the contact’s row in [Emergency contacts](https://app.wearabledocs.com/contacts) you can copy the invite link and send it yourself, or use **Send again** while invites remain.
