# Free account vs a plan

What a free account can do, what a plan unlocks, and pricing.

A free account lets you fill in your details, choose what you would refuse, and preview what a page would look like. It is not a live record a clinician can rely on.

A **plan** is what makes the signed document, the public page, the QR code, and the alerts real.

## What you pay

- **$99 a year** for the first person.
- **$50 a year** for each additional person, up to four on one household plan.
- No setup fee. The first year costs what every year costs.
- Hardware, an engraved bracelet or a printed card from the shop, is bought separately, once. It is optional. A printable wallet card is free on a plan.

## What a free account can do

Open Profile, Account, and the screens that show what a plan buys. You can enter details and choose refusals. Live document hosting, a code that opens a public page, and emergency alerts need a plan.

## How to get a plan

Press **Get a plan** on [Account & billing](https://app.wearabledocs.com/account), or on any screen that needs a plan. See [How to upgrade](https://wearabledocs.com/help/getting-started/upgrade).
