# How much identity does the page show?

Birth year vs full date of birth on the public page.

You choose this when you set up a document on [Your documents](https://app.wearabledocs.com/instruments). Open a document and answer **What a responder sees** on the first page of its walk. You can change it later on [Choose what responders see](https://app.wearabledocs.com/consent).

## The choice

- **Name and birth year** (recommended): enough for a match without putting your full date of birth on an open page.
- **Name and full date of birth**: fastest match at the bedside; reveals the pair many systems use to confirm identity to anyone who scans.

## What does not change

We hold your date of birth either way, because the signed document carries it and a clinician matching you against it needs consistency with what you signed. This setting changes only what the **public page** shows.
