Messaging program
What we send, to whom, and how they asked for it. Every number in this program is entered and confirmed by the person who owns it.

The program
WearableDocs members carry a code linking to their medical directive, on a printed wallet card or engraved on something they wear. When that code is scanned, we text the emergency contacts the member has designated, so the people they chose learn their directive was accessed at the moment it matters.
These are transactional emergency notifications. We never send marketing or promotional messages to these numbers, and this number is never used for any campaign.
Only people who entered their own mobile number on our website, ticked a consent box, and then confirmed by replying YES to a text. No one else is ever messaged.
Consent
A member cannot enter someone else's phone number. There is no field for it. Every number in this program is typed in by the person who owns it, on our site, and then confirmed a second time from the handset itself.
I agree to receive text messages from WearableDocs at the number I provided: one message now to confirm this number, then an alert whenever the medical directive code of the member who named me is scanned. No marketing. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.We store the exact wording they agreed to, together with the date and time, their IP address and their browser, so the record of consent is the wording that was actually on screen that day.
Two steps on purpose. The web consent is the agreement; the text reply proves the number reaches the person who gave it, because a mistyped or disconnected number would otherwise fail silently until the moment it mattered.
The confirmation text reads:
Jane Doe listed you as an emergency contact on WearableDocs (record ABCD-1234). If their medical directive is ever scanned, we'll text you right away. Reply YES to confirm, or STOP to decline. Msg freq varies. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help.
The record number tells the reader which member the invitation is for. A bare YES is the whole reply we ask for, and it confirms the number on every invitation waiting for it, the same scope STOP has always had. Consent to be alerted was already given once per record, in the wording above and with its own timestamp, on the opt-in page; this reply confirms that the number reaches the person who gave it.
The message
WearableDocs: Jane Doe's code was scanned just now near Dallas, US. Directive: no organ, eye or tissue donation. wdocs.app/ABCDEFGHJK Reply STOP to end.
Message frequency varies. Messages are sent only when a member's code is actually scanned, which for most contacts means rarely or never. Message and data rates may apply.
The opt-out applies to your number across every record it is attached to, not only the one that messaged you.
Stopping, privacy and help
Reply STOP to any message. We stop immediately, and the opt-out applies to your number across every record it is attached to, not only the one that messaged you. Reply HELP or INFO at any time for program information and our support address.
What we hold about contacts, and for how long, is set out in our privacy policy. We do not sell or share these numbers.
