Switch between records
Move between your own record and a child's or managed record.
If you hold or look after more than one record, for example your own and a child's, you can move between them from one account.
Who sees more than one record
A record is listed for you when you are:
- The holder: it is your directive
- An adult looking after a child's record: a grant made when you gave consent for them
Paying for a plan does not put someone else's record on your list. On a household plan each person's document, confirmations, and access history are theirs alone.
Each record is a separate legal instrument. Four people on one plan means four signed documents, four reviews, and four public pages. A shared subscription is a billing arrangement; it does not merge the records.
How to switch
Open Your records, or choose Switch record in the account menu or on Account & billing. Each record is listed with its name, its short code, and where it stands:
- Live: directive showing, contacts reachable
- Live: directive showing, no one is alerted yet
- Document in review
- Not complete: no directive on the page yet
- Setup not finished
- Page is down: subscription not active
Records you look after for someone else are marked you look after this record. The one you are in now says Open now. Choose Open on another to work on it; the app shows that record until you switch again.
Switch record only appears when you have more than one record: in the account menu on a computer, at the top of Menu on a phone, and on Account & billing. With a single record, Your records sends you back to the home screen.
Switching does not
- Change who pays. If your plan covers several people, the billing arrangement stays the same whichever record you are looking at.
- Share information between records. Each record has its own contacts, its own documents, and its own access history.
