How to upgrade
Moving from a free account to a plan: what carries over, the cost, checkout, and after.
A free account lets you fill in your details, choose what you refuse, and preview your page. A plan is what gives you a code that reaches that page, and a signed document behind it.
What you entered is copied onto your record when the plan is bought. You do not have to enter it again.
How much it costs
- $99 a year for the first person
- $50 a year for each additional adult, up to four people on one plan
- No setup fee, and the same price every year
- Cancel whenever you want
An engraved bracelet or tag, or a plastic wallet card, is a separate one-time purchase.
Steps to upgrade
-
Press Get a plan. It is on Account & billing, and on any screen that needs a plan. If you have entered enough to make a page, you can look at it first: See your record.
-
Choose how many people. One for yourself; more if you are covering others. Each person signs their own document and gets their own page.
-
Check the order. The cart shows what you are buying and the total, and asks you to agree to the terms of purchase. You can add hardware to the same order here; adding it after you have paid is a second order.
-
Pay with Stripe. Your card is handled by Stripe; we never see it. Tax is added on the payment page according to where you are.
After you upgrade
- Finish setup. The setup steps pick up from what you entered. See How to finish setup.
- Print and sign your documents from Your documents. The blank is prepared with your name and your state.
- Upload the signed copy. The screen is Upload your signed document.
Until the signed paper is uploaded, your record page has no directive on it. That is expected: the legal weight is in the signed paper, not in the account.
What stays the same
Your record, your address, and your code stay the same for as long as the plan is active.
